2015 Let’s not Buy into the Idea of love This Valentine.

images Valentine’s Day is the day to celebrate Love and a day to take special planning to bring the romance to your partner. Lots of chocolates get bought and eaten, lots of gift cards and restaurants love the full house that this day brings. Nothing says LOVE quite like spending lots of money on your partner.

When I was a kid in school this day brought with it a bit of resentment. We all have this idea of what love is based on movies and TV-series, it seems so desirable and when you are a teenager love and getting a partner can be one of the most important thing currently in your life. Unfortunately I was not all that popular and one of the “nice guys” so this day would leave me kind of sad that I did not have somebody.

Interesting enough I was not alone in this sadness on this particular day, some go even further and can’t handle the pain and actually kill themselves on Valentine ’s Day which is not surprisingly one of the highest days of suicide rates. The question is why do we all buy into this idea of love presented to us?

We see on TV how beautiful love is and how perfect it is and how all you need is love and everything will work as long as you have love. But we all know this to be untrue. We experience this first hand, no relationship is like it is on TV - it’s never perfect – yet we still desire it. And when the relationship does not meet the expectation created based on ideas we are left disappointed. And why? Simply because we had an idea of what love is.

People often say that Love can’t be defined – wrong. If you are unable to define love then you do not know what Love really is. Love is not a feeling. That is a limitation of the word and what it truly is. Love is action, an act of unconditionally supporting another without judgments to become the best each can be. And that takes work, allot of work.

So let’s not buy into the idea of love – the fairytale of love and rather create it into something that can truly stand the test of time.

Day 242: Death With Dignity - Everyone should have the choice to Die

images "Brittany Maynard intends to die shortly after her husband’s birthday at the end of October. On the day of her choosing, she is electing to take prescribed medication that will end her life.

Maynard, a 29-year-old California native, was diagnosed in April with glioblastoma multiforme — fatal stage 4 brain cancer — and given six months to live.

Maynard made a decision. She chose to move with her family from the San Francisco Bay area to Portland, Ore., because of Oregon’s “Death with Dignity” act, she explains in an article she wrote for CNN as well as in an online video she filmed to raise awareness about the law.

“I can’t even tell you the amount of relief that it provides me to know that I don’t have to die the way that it’s been described to me, that my brain tumor would take me on its own,’’ Maynard says. ‘‘I hope to enjoy however many days I have on this beautiful Earth and spend as much of it outside as I can surrounded by those I love. I hope to pass in peace.’’ – See more at http://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/health-wellness/2014/10/08/brittany-maynard-chooses-death-with-dignity-age/vDQvQBVSuCLCBNIVuifZyO/story.html"

This has caused quite the stir. The death with dignity act is legal in Washington, Montana, Vermont, New Mexico, and Oregon and basically states that terminally ill, mentally competent adults diagnosed with six months or less to live could obtain a fatal prescription that they would administer themselves.

The stir I am revering to is that people support this and others do not. Some of the groups include religious groups, because it’s a sin to kill yourself. Another group is “ pro-life” people who believe life is sacred.

I do not want to go too much into the religious groups here, but the main reason why they oppose this act is because to kill yourself Is a sin. Even if you have a slow and very painful death waiting for you God wants the disease to take its course and want you to live through the pain and die the natural death he intended, because he is a loving and merciful God.

The pro Life people who believe that Life is sacred and needs to be protected at all costs are also not in full understanding of the problem here. Can you imagine being terminally ill and only having few months to live? Doctors telling explain to you exactly how you are going to die and that there is nothing to do about it? You know the death will be slow and painful, who would not want a quick death rather?

I see this act as valid and something everybody in this particular situation should have the right to decide upon if it’s properly managed and overseen. IF I was ever in a situation like this where it’s a fact that I will die a horrible death I would definitely rather have a quick death than to drag it out. Wouldn’t you?

I Breathe Life

When I first came to Desteni I was a zombie. The silent type, introvert and had no clear plans for the future. If I had to explain my experience of myself back then it was as if I was standing back inside myself – almost like sitting back and watching a movie. I did not participate really and avoided conversations with people. All this was the aftermath of not wanting to feel again when my mother died.

So since participating with Desteni I have had and have a lot of support that assisted me with these points. I was able to realize that the reason for my zombie state depression was because of my mother and was able to move past that. I would never have made that connection on a conscious level and probably would have ended up drifting through life as a lifeless body – or killed myself.

I was able to breathe life into me again and I could see my eyes become alive as I experienced myself for the first time in many years. I could feel myself as I moved through my body and was amazed at the simplicity of the words I spoke and understand – I am Here.

With the tools of the Desteni I Process I gave myself Life, I moved on. I realized points within myself that I never would have considered possible. I am the creator of myself and all my experiences and have been redesigning myself so that I can be effective in everything I do.
