How The Living Income Guaranteed can drastically decrease Mental Illness

images A recent study revealed that poverty and unemployment are linked to metal illness and depression. It turns out that people who don’t have enough money to live are more likely to be depressed and suicidal.

Its shows that nearly 1 in 5 of Adult Americans experienced mental illness in 2013. The main purpose of this study was to show just how many people are not currently being treated for mental illness – however it does not give actual solutions to the cause of the mental illness in the first place.

What we are dealing with here is a typical Band-Aid solution. By giving people who are depressed drugs is not a permanent solution. What we need to do here is stop the problem at the source – and from the study one of the main causes of why so many people struggle with mental illness is because of the lack of money.

And it makes perfect sense – We need money to survive in this world. When you are unemployed and living in poverty not being able to provide for yourself or your family can result in you becoming depressed. Its horrid to live in such conditions – and to give these people drugs to take away the depression will not solve the problem at hand. So what will?

By taking these people out of poverty will drastically improve their current living condition. If you do not have to worry about going hungry or not finding a place to sleep you can actually start living and stop just surviving. With the Implementation of the Living Income Guaranteed we can remove poverty and homelessness and with it drastically decrease mental illness. That would be stopping the problem at its source – by providing a permanent solution.

Below are some points explaining parts of the study :

In November of 2014, the U.S. government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) issued a press release titled “Nearly One in Five Adult Americans Experienced Mental Illness in 2013.” This brief press release provides a snapshot of the number of Americans who are suicidal, depressed, and mentally ill, and it bemoans how many Americans are not in treatment. However, excluded from SAMHSA’s press release—yet included in the lengthy results of SAMHSA’s national survey—are economic, age, gender, and other demographic correlates of serious mental illness, depression, and suicidality (serious suicidal thoughts, plans, or attempts). It is these demographic correlates that have political implications.

Also, the survey results provide extensive evidence that unemployment and poverty are highly associated with suicidality, depression, and serious mental illness.

These lengthy results, for example, include extensive evidence that involvement in the criminal justice system (such as being on parole or probation) is highly correlated with suicidality, depression, and serious mental illness. Yet Americans are not told that preventing unnecessary involvement with the criminal justice system—for example, marijuana legalization and drug use decriminalization—could well prove to be a more powerful antidote to suicidality, depression, and serious mental illness than medical treatment. -http://www.salon.com/2015/02/19/what_were_not_being_told_about_suicide_and_depression/

WTF is Self-support part 2

IN my previous blog I wrote about Support and always looking for it from others which lead to the conclusion that if I constantly want others to support me then i do not support myself. So here follows steps for Self-support:

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to always look for support from other people – always outside of myself.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to always want to be supported by others before I can make a decision not realizing that this lead to me being indecisive and not able to direct myself in certain situations.selfhelp

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to depend on support from others to such a extend that I could not always stand on my own without support from others.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to within relationships want support to be the primary deciding factor whether or not I continue with a relationship and if I do not get support to move on.

I forgive myself that I have not accepted and allowed myself to realize that If I constantly look for support from others it is an indication that I do not support myself.

I forgive myself that I have not accepted and allowed myself to support myself and to believe that I can only obtain support from others outside myself and not from myself as Self-support.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to fear self-support, because it is easier to get others to support who I can always fall back to when mistakes are made, whereas with Self-support mistakes are on me.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that I am unable to support myself, because It is something I have not fully lived yet, instead of realizing that just because I have not done it before effectively yet does not mean I am unable to.

I commit myself to stop the belief that support can only be obtained from others/outside myself.

I commit myself to support myself – to live Self support

I commit myself to stop depending on others and to support myself with decisions

I commit myself to stop wanting/looking support only from others and to instead support myself first and when I face a point where I require assistance I ask for support.

Day 88 - Change with Desteni: Leadership through Self Trust

My last blog I wrote about how I have developed a from of self trust and became a person confident within certain tasks. motion gears -team force

When working with something new where I have no idea what to do or how to do it I go into a point of doubt and uncertainty. Then there is a leaning curve with some mistakes maybe and eventually the task is complete. Then after completing this new thing I then know how to do it which makes it easier the next time. And then eventually it becomes natural and i am confident doing it and have self trust.

Living on a farm with other people is awesome  - so much you can learn about yourself and others. Who do you usually go to when you have a question on how to do something? The best person is somebody who already did it and thus knows how to. And have a look at how you listen to every detail when the person is telling/showing you ho to do this new task. You listen to the person and do what he is telling you so you can do the new task - Authority That is what happened to me. I did allot of tasks on the farm and went through the self doubt, struggle and eventually learned how to do certain tasks for example throwing cement. And thus I became confident and its that confidence and self trust that people see and then they listen. If There is a person who need to then throwing cement and do not know how they are going to ask me. and then after tine they will trust themselves and become confident.

When I say authority I do not mean without question or final say military style authority. Having True Authority is when you have absolute certainty and confidence - and then directing others through common sense and what is best for all. So Authority comes from doing something and understanding it and then directing others - and they will listen because of your self trust and confidence and when others see for themselves that what you showed them works and is true then they will trust you.

And then with all of this you get leadership. Where others come to you for advice, because you have proven to them that you do indeed know what you are talking about. And then overtime they become leaders - and then they teach others to become leaders and so forth.

So this was my process so far regarding self trust. Before Desteni I was a a silent type go with the flow kind of guy full of self doubt and hopeless uncertainty. And now I am in a position of leadership and developed self trust and confidence and am still building this to become effective within everything do - thanks to Desteni
