Day 252 - Why so Stubborn?
Stubborn word Definition:
Having or showing dogged determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, especially in spite of good reasons to do so.
Have you ever had these moments in life where you had to deal with a person who insisted with absolute certainty that you said something, but you were sure you did not? And despite the fact that the person had clear evidence you refused to acknowledge that you did say it. Then afterwards you remembered you did in fact say it… I had a few of those as well.
So here are two events showing the same thing from the stubborn person and the other pointing thing out. The problem with Stubborn is that you refuse to listen to anything the other person shows you and believe you are the only person that is right in that particular moment no matter what the person says or shows. It’s an “I am right, you are wrong” thing.
When do you know when you are being stubborn? It starts with a reaction to what the other person said or showed; it’s like taking it personally and then you immediately go into a defensive position. So now you have this irritation and frustration building inside yourself and the only to defend yourself is to not believe a word the other person is saying and stick to you being right no matter what.
Now there is another dimension – being stubborn with yourself. Sounds silly but we all have these inner wars where we see a point within ourselves that needs to change, but then we go into being stubbornness and hold to that point, refusing to let it go or consider other options
When you do find yourself in this position the best thing you can do for yourself is to stop it. Stop and consider for a moment that the other person is trying to assist you and that what they are saying might actually be right. Look at the information without judgment and without taking it personally to access if what is being said is true or not. If you stick to being Stubborn then nothing is going to change. All you are doing harming the relationship you have with the other person and giving up an opportunity to better yourself.
So Next time ask yourself – Why so Stubborn? What’s the point? Is it is really worth it?
Now there is another dimension – being stubborn with yourself.

Day 242: Death With Dignity - Everyone should have the choice to Die
"Brittany Maynard intends to die shortly after her husband’s birthday at the end of October. On the day of her choosing, she is electing to take prescribed medication that will end her life.
Maynard, a 29-year-old California native, was diagnosed in April with glioblastoma multiforme — fatal stage 4 brain cancer — and given six months to live.
Maynard made a decision. She chose to move with her family from the San Francisco Bay area to Portland, Ore., because of Oregon’s “Death with Dignity” act, she explains in an article she wrote for CNN as well as in an online video she filmed to raise awareness about the law.
“I can’t even tell you the amount of relief that it provides me to know that I don’t have to die the way that it’s been described to me, that my brain tumor would take me on its own,’’ Maynard says. ‘‘I hope to enjoy however many days I have on this beautiful Earth and spend as much of it outside as I can surrounded by those I love. I hope to pass in peace.’’ – See more at http://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/health-wellness/2014/10/08/brittany-maynard-chooses-death-with-dignity-age/vDQvQBVSuCLCBNIVuifZyO/story.html"
This has caused quite the stir. The death with dignity act is legal in Washington, Montana, Vermont, New Mexico, and Oregon and basically states that terminally ill, mentally competent adults diagnosed with six months or less to live could obtain a fatal prescription that they would administer themselves.
The stir I am revering to is that people support this and others do not. Some of the groups include religious groups, because it’s a sin to kill yourself. Another group is “ pro-life” people who believe life is sacred.
I do not want to go too much into the religious groups here, but the main reason why they oppose this act is because to kill yourself Is a sin. Even if you have a slow and very painful death waiting for you God wants the disease to take its course and want you to live through the pain and die the natural death he intended, because he is a loving and merciful God.
The pro Life people who believe that Life is sacred and needs to be protected at all costs are also not in full understanding of the problem here. Can you imagine being terminally ill and only having few months to live? Doctors telling explain to you exactly how you are going to die and that there is nothing to do about it? You know the death will be slow and painful, who would not want a quick death rather?
I see this act as valid and something everybody in this particular situation should have the right to decide upon if it’s properly managed and overseen. IF I was ever in a situation like this where it’s a fact that I will die a horrible death I would definitely rather have a quick death than to drag it out. Wouldn’t you?

Will there be an Ark to save us?
I watched the movie “Noah” the other day. The main story line is basically based on Noah in the bible where the creator tells Noah to build a giant ark in order to save the animal kingdom from a worldwide flood that will kill every human expect Noah and his family.
The reason for this flood is to wipe out all the “wickedness” and “evil” that is humanity in order to cleanse the earth. In the movie it portrays humans and human nature as having a complete disregard for the earth. The earth got to a state where most of the land was barren and finding sustenance was very difficult due to how humans have exploited the earth. Sound familiar?
What I did find interesting in this movie is that Noah realized that humanity is the problem. That before humans roamed the earth nature was in balance – no exploitation, no over fishing, no deforesting, etc. And ever since humans came along that is when things started to go wrong with the earth. He also saw that this “evil” is in all humans – in himself and his family included is the potential for greed, murder, exploitation etc., so he came to the conclusion that in order to save the planet humans must cease to exist.
Now, if we look at the world today and the state it’s in – if we do nothing to change our nature then the outcome is pretty clear: We are going destroy this planet. Unfortunately there will be no ark for the animals this time, no flood to kill us all and save the animals. The way things are going we will kill every living being on this planet (maybe not the cockroaches). There is no all mighty creator that will help us through this.
Another point the movie shows is that every human has the potential for “goodness”, kindness, compassion and to be caring. Sure we have the potential to change our ways and actually be considerate human beings, but that means actually changing our nature as who we are and accepted ourselves to be.
So what will we choose?

Day 108 - Doing it for Others
Please read this first quickly to understand this blog
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to only do things for other people and ignore myself
I forgive myself that i have accepted and allowed myself to believe that i do not need to take care of myself and that i must dedicate my life to only help others
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that other people are more important than me
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to place other things like people and tasks above me where I am inferior an not important
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that others have more worth than I do
I forgive myself that i have not accepted and allowed myself to realize that i cannot only help others, but that i must also assist myself so that I can become more effective in assisting others.
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to when participating in farm activities to not be aware of myself in what I do.
I forgive myself that i have accepted and allowed myself to write music for others, not realizing that ill be more effective and it would be more enjoyable if I wrote for myself
I forgive myself that i have accepted and allowed myself to only write these blogs for other people and not me, not realizing that this is the reason why its so difficult for me to write, I'm missing me within it
I commit myself to write for me, for me to become more effective and in that as I become more effective I can assist other better - write for myself for others.
I commit myself to write music for myself as others
I commit myself to stop placing others above me, to stop seeing others as more important, worthy, but to instead stand equal.
I commit myself to when I participate in farm activities like planting trees, to not only do it so that the tree can grow -for the tree - but to also do it for me - where im aware of myself and the plant and realize that I'm working with a living being.
I commit myself to realize that I will always stay the same if I do not change something -
I commit myself to be aware of myself always
I realize the reason why I do what I do - because I understand there is a problem in the world and that I have the power to change it - through writing fir me to become more effective for others to also realize there's a solution. Trough music as to bring a message across and living as an example.

Day 79 - I'm Doing the best I can
Since being on the farm we have worked on many projects - and within those projects you leant a great deal about yourself - you can see how much work has been put into a certain project and depending on how effective the project is when its done reflects on the person.
Its really awesome to do something physically yourself - like fencing or building a nursery and laying down a concrete floor - its stays there for a very long time. You can look back and say to yourself '' I did that''. And with every project I did I always looked to become more effective so that when i do this particular project again - i will do it better. And with lots of practice, research and assistance i found better and more effective ways to do things.
Every time When i was finished with project I told myself i did the best i can, but i did it better the next time - so then ''doing the best I can'' got better, which indicated that 'my best' back then was not in fact my best. At the moment with I my knowledge and ability that i had it was the best i could do - but i also had the ability to do better and i proofed it later
The point im making here is that when someone say that they are doing the best they can it is usually related to a point they did and did not do good enough. So they get defensive and try to justify their limitations by saying:'' I DOING THE BEST I CAN!!!'' . I had a few projects where i did not in fact do the best I can where I believed I did, and then someone would bring the point out and after being pissed of and throwing tantrums to try defend and justify my work i then did realize I was slacking.
I remember a time when we started closing a hole in our dam wall so that we can have a dam with lots of water - we had to take wheelbarrows of sand bags and loose sand to the wall which was very difficult. The hole in the wall was about 2 meters wide and 4 meters long( this is an estimation - thickness of the dam wall). We only closed it up about a third of the hole - it was a shit of sand and bags to do that and i thought that was good enough - it will hold. A while after that the flood rains came and the bags were not nearly enough to hold the pressure of the water in the dam so it broke and got washed away - loosing all the water in the dam.
I really felt like shit - the first sign that i did not actually do the best i could - because if I did I would not feel like shit. That is where I learnt about consequences - that when working n the physical you can see in real time the consequences of your actions - I learnt that my actions have REAL CONSEQUESNCES so i saw the reason why you should do things PROPERLY - rather make sure by doing MORE instead of risking not doing enough - no matter how i feel about it.
You do it once and proper so that you don't have to do it again. (We did then later fill that hole completely and hammered in steel rods. Then we even made the wall thicker with more bags to ensure it hold the water and not break.)
It is to do the best you can - to the best of your ability and then to find way to improve your best so that you can become more and more effective so that the ability gets better and better. Do not accept that you are doing your best - do better every time
